TEDxExchangeDistrict – A New Kind of TEDx Experience!

TEDxExchangeDistrict

TEDxExchangeDistrict is the product of over a year and a half of planning with a very specific question in mind:

How can we best serve our city, and the planet?

What resulted is one of the most inspiring groups of community leaders coming together with a common purpose. The outcome of that planning, which will launch on October 18th, centered around a very clear 3-fold mandate:

TEDxExchangeDistrict – A New Kind of TEDx Experience!

Elevate the quality of life for all Winnipeggers

What are the issues that affect our community? After talking with people throughout the city, planning as a team, polling social media, and interviewing various community leaders on the issues affecting our city, we sat down to identify the most effective, evidence-based solutions to address them, in an approach that is in harmony with our deepest values and vision for our community. The ideas presented at our live event are the culmination of our quest to answer the question: “How can we elevate for the quality of life for all Winnipeggers?”

Change The Public Dialogue

Change for the better doesn’t just happen from the top down, or even the bottom up. It happens where they intersect. TEDxExchangeDistrict has no specific agenda, political or otherwise, but we know that if we can help spark discussions on important topics relevant to our community, change – whether at a grassroots level, or in the debate issues come election time – will be the natural outcome. Our goal is to get people talking about things that matter, and show off some of the great things happening in our community that the media may not have the chance to cover.

Put Winnipeg on the world stage.

A lot of incredible things are happening here in Winnipeg. (Did you know that Vogue noted us as a “must-visit” city?) By highlighting some of the world-class things that are happening here in our community, we hope to put Winnipeg on the map in a new way, and help the rest of the world realize just how amazing our city really is, and take it’s rightful place on the world stage.

Our Theme: Change Through Exchange

The concept of “change through exchange” is not a new one, in fact it’s centuries old. We do plan on putting a modern-day twist on it, however. By identifying the issues most relevant to our city, our speakers have been hand-selected from two categories of people:

1. Who are the world-class thinker and doers in our city that have something the world needs to hear about?
2. Who are the best-in-class from around the world that have proven ideas and knowledge that will benefit our community that we can bring in to share with us?

This unique blend of talent will both entertain, as well as inspire change, in a way that has not yet been seen before. We are excited to have you experience it first hand on October 18th!
